Fall is upon us, school is in full swing, however, students are struggling to stay on track with all their commitments and responsibilities. As a coach, I understand the pressure and stress that comes with trying to balance schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and personal life. That’s why it’s important for students to learn time management skills in order to prioritize their tasks effectively.
Time management is more than just creating a schedule or making a to-do list. It’s about understanding how much time is needed for each task and being able to allocate that time accordingly. This means setting realistic goals and deadlines for yourself and sticking to them.
One effective way to manage your time is by using the “ABCDE” method. This method involves categorizing tasks based on their level of urgency and importance. A stands for tasks that are very important and urgent, while E stands for tasks that are not urgent or important. By prioritizing tasks based on these categories, you can focus on completing the most pressing tasks first.
Another helpful tip is to break down larger tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks. This can help prevent procrastination and make the task feel less overwhelming. It’s also important to eliminate distractions during study or work time, such as turning off your phone or finding a quiet place to work.
In addition to managing your time effectively, it’s also important to take breaks and allow yourself some rest and relaxation. Burning out from overworking can actually hinder productivity in the long run. Make sure to schedule in breaks throughout the day and use that time to recharge your mind and body
